Geotourism and Geotrail Development
What natural, cultural or other features make a place attractive?.
Place-based tourism (geotourism) is growing and gaining attention internationally, and now is rising in prominence within Australia.
Australia has many such places of interest from the iconic Barrier Reef (QLD) to the universally recognised Sydney Harbour bridge and Opera house (NSW). The Northern Territory has two world class and world-heritage listed parks in Kakadu and Uluru National Parks and many other places of natural beauty and interest.
Geotourism is about preserving, promoting and celebrating these places.
Geotrails are a starting point, encouraging visitations to sites or along pre-determined routes to tell the narrative of the place or places of interest. Marmel has experience in the planning, design, development and support of geotrails in the Northern Territory and is your essential starting point for all things NT Geotourism related.
Integrated Relational Governance Framework
Marmel Enterprises multidisciplinary perspective has been the foundation of the Integrated Relationship Governance Framework (IRGF).
IRGF has emerged from years of observing how relational strain, psychosocial hazards, and governance gaps accumulate across client–supplier environments — often silently - and unfortunately often with significant downstream impacts to workers and organisations.
The IRGF framework brings together diagnostic instruments, maturity measures, with response and recovery tools that help organisations understand relational dynamics with greater precision, confidence, and accountability.
IRGF looks deep into the organisations and particularly the relationships between clients and suppliers to determine potential sources of psychosocial hazards and risk, exposure and consequence. IRGF also looks at the intrinsic susceptabilities, resilience and defenses an organisation naturally possesses. IRGF recommends organisational-led treatments to minimise harm and to remain compliant to applicable Australian laws and ISO standards.
Marmel Enterprises Founder, Director and Principal Consultant
Professional Background
Mr Mark Asendorf is an information technology, spatial data, and enterprise architecture professional with more than 25 years’ experience across government, mining, utilities, and consulting and qualifications in business, work health and safety and information technology.
His career spans senior roles in geoscience business systems, enterprise architecture, project delivery, and spatial/GIS leadership, including major programs for the NT Government, Power and Water Corporation, BHP Olympic Dam, and GHD.
Mark has led multi‑disciplinary teams, delivered complex digital and spatial systems, and managed high‑value data capture, mapping, and Information Technology projects across SA, QLD and the NT and encourages and supports his staff and peers to advance their skills, knowledge and gain experience where-ever possible.
Marks interests include travel, spending time with his family, gardening, hockey with the Waratahs Hockey Club, and regular games of golf with friends. Other hobbies include fishing and 'recreational geology'.
Now leading Marmel Enterprises, Mark seeks to help other business owners realise value through appropriate technology choices and investments and to encourage engaged, thoughtful, responsible and respectful tourism activity through advancing and promoting geotourism interests throughout Northern Australia.
